Essential Oils: The Lifeblood of the Plant
Essential Oils -August 01, 2018 Essential oils are the “lifeblood” of a plant. That means that when a plant experiences any kind of trauma, like tearing, it releases these oils in order to help repair any damage that’s been done. These oils can be extracted from plants for our use, and contain the aromatic, chemical and healing properties of the plant. That’s pretty amazing right? Not only that, but oils have been in use for many centuries, so we can trust their track record. The reason they work is because the lipid-soluble structure of essential oils is very similar to the way our cell membranes are made up! Their molecules are small, and that is why they are able to penetrate right into our own cells and travel through our blood and tissue, usually just through smell!
