Holiday Gemstones

Ah, the holidays! You finally sit down to a warm, crackling fire for a much needed moment of respite, hot cocoa in hand, ready to enjoy the Christmas decorations that are (finally) up. Christmas music is now socially acceptable to listen to and it plays softly in the background as you and your loved ones enjoy a long overdue deep breath. You sit back and close your eyes to appreciate the moment for what it is, when suddenly – the to-do list that you’ve tried so hard to forget about, if only a minute, comes pounding at your door in the form of a rapid heartbeat and you remember all that needs to get done and how little time you have to do it: there’s the (multiple) holiday dinners that you have to prepare for, and on top of all of the Christmas shopping you haven’t done yet, you were tasked with making the costumes for the Christmas play that your kids’ Sunday school is putting on. And later after you've finally gone to bed exhausted, you awake with a start to your subconscious

Transitions

You may have noticed that there was no post for September.  That's because it's been a month of change.  You see I've moved 2000 miles across the continent to settle in the place it all began.  New England. As many of you may know from my bio on my About page, I grew up on the North Shore of Boston and after over 30 years living in many states and Europe, I've come home.  Changes. It's been a real trip coming back to my roots and seeing all the changes that have taken place over the years.  My home town, Beverly, Massachusetts has transformed from a typical local seashore town to a booming community with condos, trendy restaurants, businesses, and shops. Although I'll miss some of the old places we used to haunt growing up, Beverly and the surrounding towns have had a complete transition; and it's one of a bright future; one I hope to share. Twin Waters Jewelry is back in business and in celebration of the change in season, we're having a special

Essential Oils: The Lifeblood of the Plant

Essential Oils -August 01, 2018 Essential oils are the “lifeblood” of a plant. That means that when a plant experiences any kind of trauma, like tearing, it releases these oils in order to help repair any damage that’s been done. These oils can be extracted from plants for our use, and contain the aromatic, chemical and healing properties of the plant. That’s pretty amazing right? Not only that, but oils have been in use for many centuries, so we can trust their track record.   The reason they work is because the lipid-soluble structure of essential oils is very similar to the way our cell membranes are made up! Their molecules are small, and that is why they are able to penetrate right into our own cells and travel through our blood and tissue, usually just through smell! Last month we featured lava stones from our Lava Essentials Collection . So this month we’re here to share a couple of our favorite essential oils to drop on those amazing stones. Our Featured Oils

The Power of Gemstones

Gemstones  have been used for centuries to promote healing, power, and energy.  More than just beautiful (though their beauty is definitely a plus), each stone carries with it the weight of a deeper symbolic meaning while simultaneously possessing the power to incite very real benefits to one's life.  For example, Roman soldiers used lava stone to inspire courage when headed into battle and in western cultures, amethyst symbolizes heavenly understanding. Our Featured Gemstones of the Month Rose Quartz (the love stone).  Rose Quartz is known to release strong vibrations for unconditional love, joy, warmth, and healing, benefiting not only the wearer, but all those in its vicinity as it emits a wealth of faith and hope.  Rose Quartz crystals are profound amplifiers of energy and help kindle happiness, love, romantic feelings, and sensuality.  Essential for those who wish to add to their romantic lives or inspire a deeper connection with those around them, we have a variety of pi

Julie will be writing about gemstones and their meaning, the history and lure behind sea glass, and of course which essential oils work best for a variety of health concerns and general well-being. As a matter of fact, I'll be launching a new product line within the Lava Essentials Collection on June
